Vintage Christmas is in the Air and Everywhere

Some of the vintage ornaments on our tree...along with all the funky kid ornaments made throughout the year...I love that!

Well, the decorating around here is done.  And what a job it was!  I had NOOOOO idea how much Christmas I had.  My daughter helped me decorate and was a bit overwelmed.  What I decided.  I don't need ANY more Christmas.  Unless it's a unique Shiny and Brite (which I did find this week), I don't need it.  Everything has a place and there isn't a spec of room more!  Here is some of what I did...

This is my favorite corner in the kitchen right now!

I found this Marks and Spencers canister last year for 50 cents.  I use it for my tea (which I drink all day long when I'm home).  Every time I get tea I think of Helen Mirren in Calendar Girls..."I got my bloody Victoria Sponge at Marks and Spencers and now I've gone and won!"

The vintage outside angel is on the fridge this year with a record cover I adore

My kiddie fridge is full of Christmas decorating supplies in the kitchen

I always love changing out the shelf in my kitchen the best

I couldn't wait to use the Vera table cloth I got at an Estate Sale this summer for $1.

I wish there wasn't that glare!  This is my dining room.  I blew up some pics off google and the middle is a collage of Christmas music and postcards

It's hard to get a good shot of this.  The sled and Snowman are waaaay up high on my ledge.

This was the box of Shiny Brite's I found at a thrift for $2.95

I hope this inspires your own creativity to decorate.  I'm saddened as I talk to women who are completely stressed out by Pinterest blogs trying to recreate what others have done.  I think the fun of Pinterest and blogs is seeing what others have come up with and doing your own thing with what you've got.  I am not a rule follower when it comes to decorating.  I do what I feel and creating is part of the fun for me.  I hope you enjoy the same!
Linking with a great place to look at what everyone has come up with!

Oh...I Just Couldn't Wait!

I promised my family no decorating for Christmas until AFTER Thanksgiving.  I ALMOST made it, but I did the front porch which is strictly my decorating domain!

I still love that this crate isn't "perfect" but "real".  I took out the little pumpkins and put in some non-breakable vintage treasure.

And hung my skates on the chair.

I think this is gonna need a bit more, but I can't get the boxes down I need so I have to wait!

This is gonna get greenery inside as soon as we get the tree!

This is all I thrifted this week...an old Fruitcake tin from Texas for 50 cents
and...some Tom and Jerry's mugs I've never seen

And I did a little Ball jar craft too.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy getting ready for Christmas!

Oh What Fun it is to Thrift...

Wow, did I have a fun week!  After being stuck inside sick all last week, it was fun to get out, and I found some great things!

I have discovered a new thrift I love.  Well, it's not new, but it's a Humane Society thrift that used to have cats inside.  I could not stand the smell and thus, I never went it.  They have removed the cats and there are many wonderful things at great prices!  This Aladdin Thermos was just $1.99.  It's my first Aladdin because the one's I always see are plastic.

I was thrilled with this cake carrier from England for $1.00.  I've never seen one like this

Snowflake space savers are following me!  I now have a collection of three.  I wonder if people are cleaning out Christmas stuff and these are in with it?  Goodwill $5.99

I am sooooo thrilled about these cuties.  I have wanted a knee hugger and I've never found one...well I found 2!  I was going to wait until my birthday next month and break down and buy one on Etsy.  These were waiting for me at Goodwill for only 99 cents each!

The Humane Society Thrift had a Christmas Extravaganza.  Was it ever!  I have NEVER seen anything like it.  The ENTIRE store was Christmas.  It was on a Monday (Hubbies day off) so he took me.  There was a line outside the door!  I got these salt and pepper snow people from my childhood. $1.99

A Christmas pin and hankie $1

And this darling postcard!  My hubby also got a fabulous Christmas sweater for our ugly Christmas sweater party.

Then I visited a favorite thrift on the way to visit a friend.  This tray is fabulous!  $1.99

And I love these tags, still in the package .59 cents

OK, now for the cream of the crop, the cat's meow, the icing on the cake....

There is a cute little antique store down town with super reasonable prices.  I saw this behind the desk not yet priced.  I asked her to call me when she priced it.  Oh, my $14!  I'm spending birthday $ early on this one.  They are not mint, but the box is...and I've never seen anything like it.  OH MY...

She threw in the little deer.  This is my favorite Christmas find this year!

Christmas and Craftiness

Well, I've been sick all week.  I did manage to wander into that same little thrift that let me dig in their Christmas stuff.  My son forgot his Clarinet and it's right by the school...I went in orange Crocs, sweats and a hat.  Nice.  They had everything 1/2 for Christmas so I found some more vintage Christmas at about 25 cents a piece!

I love this made in Japan snowman vase!

Since I was home and feeling to yucky to do much, I did something I haven't done in along time.  I got crafty.  I just used what I had on hand in the vintage crafty department.  I just came up with some ornaments.

These are old post cards and cards.

I cut and embellished them

I used the old writing for the backing

These were little picks, and the puffballs off my daughters socks

I need to get some ribbon for hangers on these block ornaments.  I put in the screw on hooks for that behind the embellishments

Good ole Costco blew up some google pics for me to frame.  And the top one is an old towel my grandma made years ago.

I checked out this from the library...

How I would love to find any of these!  I don't see snowmen much.  I prefer them to Santa.  I also love angels, but they are easy to find.

I hope to be better next week so I can get out there and look more !
