So, yesterday, the family stopped by Goodwill....oh, my....what's this....hubby discovers a Pyrex Cinderella bowl, "Scroll". Well, good try. It's the cream with gold. Not my favorite. Pass. Then....what do I spot. IN SOMEONE ELSE'S CART!!!! Oh, no. Not the Fire King Fruit mugs I've been hunting for forever. Mint condition. 4 of them. FOUR! I even had the nerve to go up and talk to the lady. She said...."$2 seems like alot for these." I was to eager. I said, "If you decide against them, I will take them!" Suddenly she seemed to think they were great. I hung out for awhile hoping she'd change her mind. Ahhh!
Those of you who don't thrift must think I'm nuts. But those who do, get it. Those finds are getting few and far between and I'm ready for spring! Let the hunting begin already! I've spent the winter looking over collector's guides from the library. I know my Fire King, Pyrex, McCoy, Vintage holiday collectibles, lunchboxes and thermos', toys....just to name a few. Anyone else addicted to these guides?
Well, hope you all are having better luck then I am. Here's some things I'm searching for!
I have the plates...looking for cups! |

We don't have estate sales around here very often and yard sales are pretty well a waste of time, I think I went just about every Saturday and struck one good or I should say great sale. So! I have to depend on the thrifts for all my wares.
Hope you hunt down the things you're dreaming of.....
That's interesting. We have alot in our area....I've had great luck in the older neighborhoods.
Estates sales are very rare around here too. Sorry you couldn't get your hands on those mugs.
I'd love to find a pink scroll. And a cream one would do too for me!
:)
I feel your pain. I get up every day and jump on the local paper website, Craigs List and yardsalesearch.com to see if anything exciting is happening. Once the "season" hits, my town and the two neighboring towns usually have 40 or 50 yard sales to choose from every weekend. It is awesome, we get a lot of family managed estate sales too. Last year, I bought lots of Pyrex, Fire King, Hazel Atlas, milk glass, and lots more at yard sales, never paying over $1 for any one piece. My best find was a Gooseberry Cinderella for .25 cents. So bring on the spring and let the yard sales begin.
I agree with you...the family run Estates are the best! .25 cents! That is amazing.
Is it totally weird that this is a huge fear of mine? Walking into a thrift store and seeing something I've been dying to have in someone elses cart. I think about it every time I go into a thrift store! lol
