Grandma's Neighborhood Sale

I'm out and looking for sales again!  Whoohoo!  Here are some of the goodies I've been finding.  A apologized for some of the pic quality.  Having trouble with indoor lighting!

The following came from a neighborhood sale and a "Grandma's House" estate sale I went to today.  It got my energy going for the sale season!

Anyone ever seen an oatmeal container like this?  So cool!

Can't remember if I've shared these ladies.  S&P from my neighbors sale

My birthday supply collection is growing!

What a find!  An original Dairy Queen container from the 40's!

I actually found two Jadite cereal bowls at Goodwill for $5 each.  I added it to my few pieces.

LOVE the German made bowl

More cupcake liners!

An old enamel teapot is now a flower pot

Sorry about the glare.  I found a package of embroidery AND iron on transfers from the 50's all intact.

I ironed on some of the fruit to vintage napkins I found at a thrift...

I also ironed these on to an old dish towel and framed them.

Then I put my 94 year old Grandma to work using the embroidery patterns!  So fun :)

Happy Saling!

Spring Junk

Found the vintage wagon at a yard sale for $5

On the Front Porch!

Oh how I love finding things I didn't know existed.  It's a vintage note holder for the front door.  25 cents at an estate sale.
Welcome!

Well, it's been really busy.  Today I am exhausted, and I just needed a day.  A day for pure pleasure.  What did I first think of wanting to do?  Blog about junk.  It's spring and I did some "making-over" in my little house.  I've used my great finds of course, and had alot of fun!

From a yard sale!

I tackled my first refinishing project.  I've never done it before because I'm a horrible, messy painter.  But what I discovered is when you distress something, you don't have to paint well.  It was gloppy on the spindles, but when I finished, I took fine-grain sand paper and sanded the heck out out of it.  I love it!  I left the drawer natural... it just needed to be.  Oh, and the best part?  This was a dollar.  Got it at a yard sale of a friend, getting rid of all her Mom's stuff.

Also found at my friend's sale.  Her parents owned a pharmacy
and this was in it.  It's so funny.  I put it in a bathroom

My obsession with "food with faces" continues...this apron was thrifted for $2

Growing Collections:

Spring table runner...

I love this mug!!! I thrifted it for a dollar and at first thought it was made to look old.  Nope, it's old.  Made in the USA.

Living Room Update:

Yes, it was time to update the living room on a $0 budget.  Well, I did it.

I added blue, red and green accents to a mostly neutral gold backdrop...except for this one red/brown area.

This painting is by an artist from the 50's.  My husband remembers a similar one in his grandmother's home.  I got it at Goodwill for $8.  What happened to the 0 budget you say?  I sold stuff to pay for it!

The square pillow is old.  I took one of my vintage table clothes and folded it around the old pillow.  Then I added a button to tack it all down.  The Neck roll...$1 at a yard sale.

The table I showed you last time, made from a FREE door by hubby for Valentine's Day.  The rug from good ole Target makes the room and I got it FREE by selling two old rugs ;)

My newest Hazel Atlas...what a find!

Stopping By to say Hi

Hi Blog Friends!

I'm in the throws of book editing and working at the school district.  Just wanted to share a few things and say hi!

Hubby made me a coffee table from an antique door for Valentine's Day.  Those of you who appreciate the "oldness" factor, when asked if he should paint it or put clear coat over it, I opted to preserve it's natural aged look.

Just finished this wall in my living room with mostly rural vintage photos!

Some fun green and red finds!

Enjoy!

Christmas in Full Vintage Swing

It's been awhile!  I have been subbing as a Para Ed teacher in my local school district and, I just found out that my novel, "From the Fish Bowl with Love" will be published in August 2015...but not before I go through the editing process.  It's been busy.  I wanted to stop in and share my vignettes for the Holiday!  Also, if you'd like to follow the process of my book you can find me on Facebook at:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/From-the-Fish-Bowl-With-Love/791587967549793
